I call my butter tarts the “man magnets”. I would watch the men walk by my farm market stall, see them stop and realize what they just saw. They would turn on their heels and come back for a butter tart. Love it!
James Barber came up to me at the Duncan Farmers Market and asked if I used lard in my pastry. I said “Of course!” He snapped back, “GOOD!” and trundled off.
Some popular holiday Christmas favourites…
The "Turtle Bar" is a hit with the crowd, delicious short bread crust with a pecan, cranberry caramel topping, drizzled with chocolate, mmmmm good. Better than a chocolate bar any day. They are tasty right out of the freezer according to my friend Bryan!
A favourite of many folk are Ginger cookies dipped in white chocolate.
Now the Rum Balls…they are my favourite! Rich and decadent, dunked in thick dark chocolate with a mouthful of rummy goodness!
And don’t forget you can find my delicious muffins at local coffee shops.
Sweet treats only makeup half of the equation, the other is savoury: Caramelized Leek, Fuji Apple and Blue Cheese tarts, Irish Brown bread, Asparagus and Pine Nut Puff Pastry slices, Scones with Feta Cheese and Fresh Herbs also offered at the Westholme Tea Co.
